The Quill Knotless Tissue-Closure Device with Monoderm suture is an absorbable suture with a needle on each end. Its barbs hold the tissue from within the wound, so the closure does not need knots. It is made by Surgical Specialties and sold by the box.
- Quill knotless tissue-closure technology uses bidirectional fixation within the wound
- Helically arrayed barbs distribute tension across the entire length of the wound or tissue being approximated
- No interrupted suture or tied knots needed
- Bidirectional barb design allows two surgeons to work on one closure at the same time, which the manufacturer notes may increase operating time efficiency
- Absorbable barbed monofilament suture, size 0
- Polyglycolic Acid / PCL suture material, uncoated and undyed
