The Quill Monoderm knotless tissue-closure device is an absorbable suture with a needle, made as a barbed monofilament. The barbs hold the tissue in place, so the closure does not rely on tied knots. It is made by Surgical Specialties and is sold by the box.
- Knotless tissue-closure device that uses bidirectional fixation within the wound, a technology built for wound closure
- Helically arrayed barbs distribute tension across the entire length of the wound or tissue being approximated
- The barbs eliminate the need for interrupted suture or tying knots
- Bidirectional barb design allows two surgeons to work on one closure at the same time, which may increase operating time efficiency
- Absorbable barbed monofilament suture, size 3-0
- Suture material: Polyglycolic Acid / PCL, uncoated and undyed
- Suture length: 11-4/5 inch, 12-strand
