The Quill knotless tissue-closure device is an absorbable barbed suture with a needle, made by Surgical Specialties. It is a sterile, double-armed polydioxanone monofilament, which means a needle is attached at each end of the suture. The barbs hold the tissue in place, so no knots are tied.
- Knotless closure technology: bidirectional fixation within the wound holds the tissue in place
- Helically arrayed barbs spread tension along the full length of the wound or tissue being joined
- The barbs remove the need for interrupted sutures or tied knots
- Bidirectional barb design allows two surgeons to work on one closure at the same time, which may increase operating time efficiency
- Absorbable barbed monofilament suture made of polydioxanone
- Size 2, uncoated, 12-strand construction
- Violet suture, 18 inches long
- Double-armed with a stainless steel needle at each end
