The Quill Knotless Tissue-Closure Device is an absorbable barbed suture with needles attached, made by Surgical Specialties. Barbs along the suture hold the tissue in place, so the closure needs no knots. It is supplied sterile for surgical and clinical use.
- Knotless closure technology: bidirectional fixation within the wound holds the tissue together
- Helically arrayed barbs spread tension along the full length of the wound or tissue being approximated
- The barbs remove the need for interrupted suture or tied knots
- Bidirectional barb design lets two surgeons work on one closure at the same time, which may increase operating time efficiency
