The Quill Knotless Tissue-Closure Device is an absorbable barbed suture with needle, made by Surgical Specialties. It is a double-armed polydioxanone monofilament, which means a needle is attached at each end. Its barbs hold the tissue in place, so the closure does not need tied knots.
- Knotless tissue-closure technology that uses bidirectional fixation within the wound
- Helically arrayed barbs spread tension across the whole length of the wound or tissue being approximated
- Barbs take the place of interrupted sutures and tied knots
- Bidirectional barb design lets two surgeons work on one closure at the same time, which may increase operating time efficiency
- Absorbable barbed suture, polydioxanone, size 2
