The Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body absorbs over time, made of braided polyglactin 910. It pairs a size 3-0 suture with a 26 mm stainless steel taper point needle. It is made by J & J Healthcare Systems for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Ease of knot tying, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses include general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Suture material: polyglactin 910, braided and coated
