The Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body breaks down over time, so it does not need to be removed. It is made of braided polyglactin 910 and comes attached to a 1/2 circle taper point needle. It is sterile and sold for facility and home care purchasing.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for easy knot tying, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses include general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption takes 56 to 76 days
- Suture material: polyglactin 910, braided, coated, 12-strand
