The J & J Healthcare Systems Coated Vicryl suture is an absorbable suture (one the body gradually absorbs) that comes attached to a needle. It is made of braided polyglactin 910 and is sold sterile. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including ophthalmic procedures; not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for ease of knot tying and knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (second choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Polyglactin 910 braided suture with coating, size 3-0
