The J & J Healthcare Systems Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, meaning the body absorbs it over time. It is a braided polyglactin 910 suture with a coated finish, paired with a stainless steel taper point needle. It is sold sterile, with one needle per suture.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for easy knot tying, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (as a second choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption takes 56 to 76 days
- Absorbable suture, Coated Vicryl, polyglactin 910, braided, coated
