The Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs over time. It is made of braided Polyglactin 910 and comes attached to a CT-1 taper point needle. It is sold sterile for facility and clinical use.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Designed for easy knot tying, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses include general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
