The J & J Healthcare Systems Coated Vicryl suture is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs, with a needle already attached. It is a braided Polyglactin 910 suture in size 2-0 with a CT-2 taper point needle. It is sold sterile and ready to use in clinics, surgical offices and other facilities.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for easy knot tying, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
