The Quill Knotless Tissue-Closure Device from Surgical Specialties is an absorbable barbed suture with a needle, a suture that holds tissue without tied knots. It is a sterile, violet polydioxanone monofilament, size 0, with a CT-1 stainless steel needle at each end. It is sold by the box.
- Bidirectional fixation within the wound is the technology behind Quill knotless wound closure
- Helically arrayed barbs distribute tension across the entire length of the wound or tissue being approximated
- The barbs remove the need for interrupted suture or tied knots
- The bidirectional barb design allows two surgeons to work on one closure at the same time, which may increase operating time efficiency
