The PDS II suture with needle is a synthetic absorbable suture, one the body absorbs over time rather than needing removal. It is a monofilament made of polydioxanone and comes sterile with an attached stainless steel needle. It is made by J & J Healthcare Systems for facility buyers who need to verify size, needle and material.
- Long lasting synthetic absorbable suture with greater pliability and easier handling
- Strength retention is 80% at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks and 60% at 6 weeks
- Complete mass absorption takes 183 to 238 days
