The PDS II suture with needle is a synthetic absorbable suture, meaning the body absorbs it over time. It is a polydioxanone monofilament made by J & J Healthcare Systems and paired with a 3/8 circle precision reverse cutting needle. It is sized 5-0 and comes sterile.
- Long lasting synthetic absorbable suture with greater pliability and easier handling
- Strength retention of 80% at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks and 60% at 6 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 183 to 238 days
- Smooth passage through tissue and low tissue reactivity
- Polydioxanone suture material, monofilament, size 5-0
- Uncoated, violet suture, 18 inch length
