The Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs over time, made of braided polyglactin 910. It is double-armed, with a stainless steel spatula needle at each end. It is sold sterile.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Ties easily, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses include general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic and orthopedic (second choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Polyglactin 910 suture material, braided and coated
