The Coated Vicryl suture is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs, supplied with a needle attached. It is made of braided polyglactin 910 and comes sterile in size 8-0. Each suture is double-armed, with a needle at both ends.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for easy knot tying, with knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (second choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Suture material: polyglactin 910, coated, braided
- Suture size 8-0, violet, 12 inch suture, 12-strand
- Needle: TG140-8, 3/8 circle spatula needle, 6.5 mm long, stainless steel
