The Coated Vicryl suture is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually breaks down, paired with a needle. It is made of braided Polyglactin 910 and comes sterile in a double-armed configuration. It is used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for ease of knot tying and knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Polyglactin 910 suture, braided and coated, 12-strand
- Size 7-0, violet, 12 inch suture
- Double-armed: a needle on each end
