The J & J Healthcare Systems Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs over time. It is a braided Polyglactin 910 suture with a coating, size 8-0, and it is double-armed with a stainless steel spatula needle on each end. It is supplied sterile.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for ease of knot tying and knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
