The Quill Knotless Tissue-Closure Device is an absorbable barbed suture with needles, made by Surgical Specialties. Its barbs hold the tissue in place, so the closure needs no knots. It is a sterile, violet, polydioxanone monofilament suture with a needle at each end.
- Knotless wound closure that uses bidirectional fixation within the wound
- Helically arrayed barbs spread tension along the full length of the wound or tissue being approximated
- Barbs remove the need for interrupted suture or tied knots
- Bidirectional barb design lets two surgeons work on one closure at the same time, which may increase operating time efficiency
- Heavier wire needle
- Absorbable barbed monofilament suture in polydioxanone
- Size 2, 14 inch suture length, violet
- Double-armed with CT-1 needles, one on each end
