The J & J Healthcare Systems Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, meaning the body absorbs it over time. It is a sterile, braided polyglactin 910 suture with a 3/8 circle precision conventional cutting needle. It is used for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for ease of knot tying and knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (second choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Absorbable, coated polyglactin 910 suture, braided, 12-strand
