The J & J Healthcare Systems Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one that the body absorbs over time rather than needing removal. It is made of braided Polyglactin 910 and comes sterile, with one stainless steel needle attached. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for ease of knot tying and knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Absorbable suture, Coated Vicryl, coated
- Suture material: Polyglactin 910, braided, 12-strand, undyed
