The Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs, made of braided polyglactin 910. It is sold sterile and double-armed, with a needle on each end of an 18 inch violet strand. It is made by J & J Healthcare Systems for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Knots tie with ease and hold securely on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (second choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Absorbable suture, Coated Vicryl, polyglactin 910, braided, coated
