The Coated Vicryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs over time. It is made of braided polyglactin 910 and comes attached to a 19 mm stainless steel needle. It is sold sterile for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures
- Not for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues
- Made for easy knot tying and knot security on the first throw
- Frequent uses: general tissue and muscle approximation, ligatures, reproductive tract, ophthalmic, and orthopedic (2nd choice)
- Loses 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks
- Complete mass absorption in 56 to 76 days
- Absorbable suture, polyglactin 910, braided, coated
