The Ethibond Excel suture with needle from J & J Healthcare Systems is a nonabsorbable suture, meaning it is not broken down by the body. It is braided polyester with a coating, attached to a stainless steel taper point needle. It is sold sterile.
- Nonabsorbable braided polyester suture made from high molecular weight, long chain, linear polyesters
- Braided construction for optimal handling properties
- Highly adherent coating made from a relatively nonreactive, nonabsorbable compound
- The coating acts as a lubricant and improves handling compared with braided, uncoated fiber
