This Prolene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, meaning a single smooth strand that the body does not break down. It is size 4-0, made of blue polypropylene, and comes attached to a P-3 needle. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation (bringing tissue edges together) and ligation (tying off).
- P-3 needle, a 3/8 circle precision reverse cutting needle
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation
- Used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures
- Does not adhere to tissue, which makes it well suited to skin closure
- Bright blue color makes the suture easier to see when it is time to remove it
