The Prolene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, meaning a single-strand thread that stays in place and is not absorbed by the body. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation (bringing tissue edges together) and ligation (tying off). It is made of polypropylene and comes with an attached stainless steel needle.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation
- Used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures
- Non-adherent to tissue, which makes it well suited to skin closure
- Bright blue color makes the suture easy to see when it is time for removal
