The Prolene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, a single smooth strand that does not dissolve in the body. It is made of polypropylene and comes with one attached taper point needle. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture, indicated for general soft tissue approximation (bringing tissue together) and ligation (tying off)
- Used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures
- Non-adherent to tissue, which makes it suitable for skin closure
- Bright blue color makes the suture easier to see when it is time to remove it
