The Prolene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, meaning a single smooth strand that the body does not break down. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation (bringing tissue edges together) and ligation (tying off). It is made from blue polypropylene and comes with a straight reverse cutting needle.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation
- Used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures
- Non-adherent to tissue, which makes it well suited to skin closure
- Bright blue color makes the suture easier to see when it is time for removal
