The Prolene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, meaning the thread is not absorbed by the body over time. It is made of polypropylene and comes sterile with one stainless steel needle attached. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture, indicated for general soft tissue approximation (bringing tissue edges together) and ligation (tying off)
- Used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures
- Non-adherent to tissue, which makes it well suited to skin closure
