The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable suture, meaning it is not broken down and absorbed by the body. It is a nylon monofilament, a single smooth strand, paired with a stainless steel precision conventional cutting needle. It is supplied sterile for wound closure.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture made from a long polymer chain
- Dyed black or green to improve visibility in tissue
- Designed to cause a minimal acute inflammatory response from tissue
- Very slow encapsulation and degradation, over 1 to 2 years
