The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable suture, meaning it is not broken down by the body, paired with a stainless steel needle. It is a nylon monofilament, a single smooth strand, in size 6-0. It is made by J & J Healthcare Systems and comes sterile.

- Dyed to enhance visibility in tissue; this suture is black
- Designed to cause a minimal acute inflammatory response from tissue
