The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable suture, meaning it is not broken down by the body, made from nylon in a single smooth strand (monofilament). It pairs a size 6-0, 18 inch black suture with a 13 mm stainless steel needle. It is supplied sterile.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture made from a long polymer chain
- Dyed black or green to make the suture easier to see in tissue; this version is black
- Tissue shows a minimal acute inflammatory response
- Encapsulation and degradation are extremely slow, over 1 to 2 years
- Nylon suture material, uncoated, size 6-0
