The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, a single smooth strand that does not dissolve in the body. It is made of nylon and comes attached to a 16 mm stainless steel, 3/8 circle reverse cutting needle. It is sold sterile, in size 5-0.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture made from a long polymer chain
- Dyed to make the suture easier to see in tissue
- Designed to cause a minimal acute inflammatory response from tissue
- Very slow encapsulation and degradation, over 1 to 2 years
- Nylon suture material, monofilament, uncoated
