The Covidien Novafil suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, meaning a single-strand thread that the body does not break down. - Nonabsorbable monofilament surgical suture made of polybutester, a copolymer of butylene terephthalate and polytetramethylene ether glycol
- Stretches elastically under load or tension when wound edema (swelling) occurs, and returns to its original form when the edema recedes
- Not affected by hydrolysis, so it is less likely to adhere to tissue during re-operative procedures
- Size 5-0, 18 inch suture length
