Description / Covidien SMM-5536 - Maxon™ Suture with Needle - 1/Box
The Covidien Maxon suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs over time. It is made from polyglyconate and comes as a size 4-0 monofilament with a P-13 3/8 circle precision reverse cutting needle. It is sterile and supplied one per box.
- Made from polyglyconate, a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate (MAXON and MAXON CV synthetic absorbable sutures)
- Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including pediatric cardiovascular tissue where growth is expected to occur, and peripheral vascular surgery
- Not indicated for adult cardiovascular tissue, ophthalmic surgery, microsurgery or neural tissues
- Retains approximately 75% of initial tensile strength at two weeks, 65% at three weeks and 50% at four weeks post-implant
- Absorption is minimal until about 60 days after implant and is essentially complete within six months
- Size 4-0 monofilament suture, uncoated
- Clear, 18 inch suture
