The Prolene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, a single strand thread that the body does not break down. It is indicated for general soft tissue approximation (bringing tissue edges together) and ligation (tying off). It is made by J & J Healthcare Systems with a stainless steel reverse cutting needle.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation
- Used in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological procedures
- Non-adherent to tissue, which makes it suited to skin closure
- Bright blue color makes the suture easier to see when it is time for removal
