The Profore WCL is a wound contact layer dressing, a thin layer that sits directly on the wound under other dressings. It has an open knit construction and no adhesive. It is made by Smith & Nephew and comes sterile.
- Nonadherent: the open knit lets exudate (wound fluid) pass through freely and helps limit the dressing from sticking to the wound
- Nonadhesive, so it is recommended for wounds surrounded by sensitive skin, such as venous leg ulcers
- Highly porous design allows exudate to pass through rather than pool, which helps limit maceration (softening) of the skin around the wound
- Knitted construction makes the dressing highly conformable and comfortable, and helps maintain a moist environment at the wound site
