Description / Medtronic MITG 172015 - Surgineedle™ Pneumoperitoneum Needle - 1/Each, 12/Box
The Medtronic MITG Surgineedle is a pneumoperitoneum needle, used to establish pneumoperitoneum before abdominal endoscopy. Its spring-loaded, blunt stylet works in a similar way to a Veress needle. It is a sterile, surgical grade device for surgical settings.
- 14 gauge needle
- Length: 120 mm
- Spring-loaded, blunt stylet mechanism, similar in function to a Veress needle
- Used to establish pneumoperitoneum prior to abdominal endoscopy
- Stainless steel needle attached at its proximal end to a plastic handle
- Handle has flanges for a comfortable grip, plus a stopcock and luer lock for inflating the abdominal cavity
- The spring-loaded, blunt stylet sits inside the needle cannula and extends beyond the tip
- The stylet retracts as the needle is pushed through the abdominal wall, then automatically advances forward once the peritoneum has been penetrated
