The Medline OptiLock super absorbent dressing is a sterile, nonadhesive dressing with a polymer core, the part that takes in drainage. It has a non-adherent layer that touches the wound and a border. It is made for use on a range of wounds, including wounds under compression.
- Super-absorbent polymer core
- Locks in drainage under compression
- Adjusts how much it absorbs to the amount of drainage
- Helps protect the surrounding skin from maceration, which is skin softening from too much moisture
- Non-adherent wound contact layer
- Indications: pressure injuries, partial and full-thickness wounds, leg ulcers, lacerations, abrasions and wounds under compression
- May be left in place for up to 7 days; how often you change it depends on the amount of drainage
