The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, a single smooth strand that the body does not absorb. It is made of nylon and comes attached to a stainless steel 3/8 circle reverse cutting needle. It is sterile and supplied in black.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture made from a long polymer chain
- Dyed black or green to make the suture easier to see in tissue
- Tissue shows a minimal acute inflammatory response
- Very slow encapsulation and degradation, over 1 to 2 years
- Nylon suture material, monofilament type, size 2
- Uncoated suture, 24-strand, black, 20 inch length
