The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable suture, meaning it is not broken down and absorbed by the body. It is a nylon monofilament, a single smooth strand, paired with a stainless steel precision conventional cutting needle. It is supplied sterile and uncoated.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture made from a long polymer chain
- Dyed black or green to make it easier to see in tissue
- Tissue shows a minimal acute inflammatory response
- Encapsulation and degradation are extremely slow (1 to 2 years)
