The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable monofilament suture, made of nylon, that comes with a stainless steel needle attached. It is sterile and uncoated. Each suture is double-armed, with a needle on both ends.
- Nonabsorbable monofilament suture made from a long polymer chain
- Dyed to make the suture easier to see in tissue (black or green dye noted by the manufacturer)
- Designed to cause a minimal acute inflammatory response from tissue
- Extremely slow encapsulation and degradation, over 1 to 2 years
- Nylon suture, size 8-0, monofilament, uncoated
