The Ethilon suture with needle is a nonabsorbable suture, meaning it is not broken down and absorbed by the body. It is a nylon monofilament, a single-strand thread, paired with a stainless steel reverse cutting needle. It is sold sterile in a size 6-0, 18 inch length.

- Dyed to improve visibility in tissue; this version is black
- Designed to cause a minimal acute inflammatory response from tissue
