The Cepheid ESwab specimen collection and transport system pairs a flocked swab with liquid Amies medium, a liquid that holds the specimen after collection. It is a sterile kit for collecting and transporting patient specimens. Each kit packs the swab and medium together, so you have what you need in one tube.
- Single regular size nylon flocked swab with an 80 mm breakpoint, packaged with 1 mL of liquid Amies medium
- Skirted tube with a purple, non-capture plastic cap
- Multipurpose, universal, liquid-based open platform system for specimen collection and preservation
- Maintains viability of aerobic, anaerobic and fastidious bacteria for up to 48 hours at refrigerator and room temperature
- Elutes over 90% of the patient specimen into the liquid medium
