The BD Vacutainer Safety-Lok blood collection set with holder is a sterile, winged safety needle set for drawing blood samples. It has a 23 gauge needle, 3/4 inch long, and 12 inch tubing. A sliding safety shield covers the needle after use, which helps protect the person handling it.
- After venipuncture (the needle stick into the vein), you move a yellow transparent shield over the exposed needle and lock it into protective position
- The locked shield creates a barrier between the healthcare professional and the used needle
