The BD Vacutainer Safety-Lok blood collection set is a winged, sterile safety needle set used for blood collection. It has a 25 gauge needle that is 3/4 inch long and 12 inch tubing. A sliding shield locks over the needle after use.
- After venipuncture (the needle stick into the vein), you slide a yellow transparent shield over the exposed needle and lock it into protective position
- The locked shield forms a barrier between the healthcare professional and the used needle
