The Monocryl suture with needle is an absorbable suture, one the body gradually absorbs over time. It is made of poliglecaprone in a single smooth monofilament strand. It comes attached to a stainless steel taper point needle for the closures listed below.
- Monofilament construction for pliability and smooth passage through tissue
- Less tissue drag and no fraying
- Frequent uses: bladder, gastro-intestinal, subcuticular closure, reproductive tract, and fascia closure/linea alba
- Loses 60-70% of tensile strength after 1 week
- Complete mass absorption in 91-119 days
