The Kendall alginate dressing is a sterile calcium alginate dressing, a soft fiber pad that absorbs wound fluid (exudate). It is a white, 2 x 2 inch square. It is made for wounds that produce fluid, including infected wounds.
- Absorbs exudate from the wound and forms a protective, cushioning gel
- Gel creates a moist wound environment
- Protective gel binds exudate and is designed to help guard the skin around the wound from maceration (over-softening)
- Can be used on infected wounds
- Absorbs approximately 20 times the dressing's weight
