The Mersilene suture with needle is a nonabsorbable, braided, sterile surgical suture made of polyester, also called poly (ethylene terephthalate). It is used for general soft tissue approximation, which means bringing tissue edges together. It comes double-armed, with a stainless steel needle on each end.
