The McKesson Calcium Alginate Dressing with Silver is a sterile rope dressing made of calcium alginate, a absorbent material made from seaweed fibers. It measures 3/4 x 12 inch and has no adhesive and no border. You can use it to fill or pack the dead space in a wound.
- Needs a secondary dressing to hold the alginate in place and to protect the wound from outside contaminants
- Gelling profile is designed so the dressing does not stick to the wound bed and keeps its physical integrity, so it can come out of the wound in one piece
- Absorbs moderate to heavy amounts of wound exudate (wound fluid) and may help control minor bleeding
- Each dressing contains, by weight, 5% silver sodium hydrogen zirconium phosphate
- Highly absorptive and non-occlusive
- Can be used to fill or pack the dead space in a wound
- May be trimmed to fit wound dimensions
